Here are tips for first-time specialty contact lenses wearers:

Many people are hesitant to wear contacts because they are concerned that the lenses may irritate their eyes or become trapped. Contact lenses cannot become lodged in the eye, and good lens maintenance lowers the risk of eye irritation. When using contact lenses, it is critical to maintain proper cleanliness. This involves properly washing and drying hands with soap and water before putting contacts, as well as cleansing the lenses with the appropriate contact lens cleaning fluid.

When keeping contacts, it is critical never to reuse the cleaning solution and remove lenses with a new solution each time. Replace your lens case in one to three months to reduce bacteria development and infections.

3. Replace contacts lenses as required

Patients should also change their contact lenses as recommended by their optometrist. When wearing contact lenses for longer than suggested, they might cause eye discomfort or infection. This is because contact lenses may break down, causing germs to accumulate on the lens surface.

4. Do not clean the specialty lenses using water

Avoid using water to rinse your specialty lenses because the microorganisms found in water can cause significant eye infections and problems. In addition, contact lenses absorb moisture, causing them to enlarge and fail to fit correctly on the eyes. Therefore, use the correct cleaning solution to rinse your contact lenses. It is also not advisable to swim or shower when using contacts.

5. Pay attention to the optometrist

Patients must follow the optometrist’s instructions for using contacts and using the products advised. Patients can lower the risk of problems or infections by obeying their optometrist’s instructions and keeping their eyes healthy.

6. Consider your morning routine

If you have already developed a morning routine, you may need to reconsider the order of a few actions if you are bringing contacts to the mix. For example, do not use hairspray after putting on your specialty contact lenses. To limit the likelihood of hairspray setting on your lenses, use hairspray before inserting your contacts.

If you are a first-time specialty contact wearer, you might feel anxious about putting in the lenses. However, following the proper care and wear will help you get used to them to will comfortable and improve your confidence.
